Recently in the last couple of months I have been hooked on the subject of HOPE. And at the moment I am writing an online programme - Passing On H.O.P.E (Helping Others to Prosper & Exhale)
(Yeah….watch this space for more information!!! It will be great)
So everywhere I go now I keep seeing stuff written or spoken about hope. So in this series of blog posts which has been ongoing for the last couple of weeks I will be writing about the subject.
HOPE is an expectation or feeling that better is coming along the way.
Wikipedia defines hope as: an optimistic (positive mental) attitude of mind that is based on an expectation of positive outcomes related to events and circumstances in one's life or the world at large
Some people will say, I hope that I win the lottery, or I hope my family member gets better, or I hope I pass my exam or driving test, I hope my football team wins the league. All of this is good, but may be just in the realm of human hope which can be no more than a wish list, although useful in terms of our natural expectations.
Hope whether spiritual or natural is important as the opposite of hope is despair, hopelessness, despondency which can lead to fear, doubt and anxiety
But Spiritual Hope is a confident hope, it is not a positive mental attitude, it is more than a wish-list or a maybe.
So how do we have Spiritual HOPE and have something better to look forward to: in our ourselves, families, ministeries business, finances, our cities and nations.
We must ultimately find our expectation and hope in GOD and not in people, places or things and circumstances.
Ps 62: 5 ‘My soul, rest thou only in God, for my hope is from Him’
Romans 15:13 ‘I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.’
If God is the source of our hope/expectations then we can find every scripture for that particular area of our lives that we are hoping in and have confidences for a better future in that thing.
John 10:10 ‘I have come that you might have life and more abundantly’
We can have hope in that word for every area of our lives and meditate on that word over our health, finances, businesses, families, cities and nations.
Faith then finds us in hope according to Hebrews 11: 1 ‘Faith is the substance of things hoped for’
Here’s to hoping the best for you and your future
